  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of the series resonance withstand voltage test method

The series resonanceunder Wuhan UHV can help many power workers conduct various power tests more conveniently.

    3

The series resonance withstand voltage test method is widely used in power systems, and its advantages and disadvantages are as follows:

    advantage:

Reduce test time: During the series resonance withstand voltage test, the power supply only needs to be input to two identical insulators at the same time to obtain two identical withstand voltage results, greatly reducing the test time.

Reduce testing costs: As the power supply only needs to be input to two identical insulators at the same time, the number of equipment used and power requirements are reduced, thus reducing testing costs.

High experimental accuracy: Due to the use of the same conditions for withstand voltage measurement, the obtained data has high accuracy.

Light weight and small volume of the system: The series resonance experimental device has a relatively small weight and volume, generally 1/5 to 1/10 of a regular experimental device, making it easy to use and transport.

Strong safety: If the test sample is broken down and flashover occurs by the series resonance test device, the resonance will stop due to the loss of resonance conditions, the high voltage will disappear, the current will decrease, the arc will immediately extinguish, and there will be no recovery overvoltage. The protection circuit of the device will operate to cut off the output, and it will not cause the breakdown point of the test sample to expand.

Low power capacity requirement: The power required for the test is only 1/Q times the test capacity (Q is the quality factor), so the power capacity requirement for the test is low.

The output waveform is not easily distorted: The series resonance test device has a stable output waveform in resonance state and is not prone to distortion.

Preventing large short-circuit currents from burning the fault point: In the resonant state, when the weak point of the insulation of the test sample is broken down, the circuit immediately loses resonance, and the loop current quickly drops to 1/Q of the normal test current, effectively preventing large short-circuit currents from burning the fault point.

    Disadvantages:

Equipment weight and complexity: Although it has been reduced compared to traditional equipment, the series resonant voltage withstand test equipment is still relatively heavy (up to about 300 kilograms), and on-site wiring is cumbersome, requiring 5-8 components to be connected to each other.

Power requirements: The equipment requires a 380V three-phase power supply and requires excessive input power (5-15kVA), which may pose limitations on certain site conditions.

Complexity of operation and maintenance: Due to the complexity of the equipment, its operation and maintenance require a certain level of professional knowledge and experience.

Possible technical issues: During the testing process, there may be technical problems such as resetting of the frequency conversion host, inability to find the resonance point, and power supply tripping, which require certain technical support to solve.

    induce:

The series resonance withstand voltage test method has its unique advantages in power systems, such as reducing test time, lowering test costs, and improving test accuracy. However, there are also some drawbacks, such as equipment weight and complexity, power requirements, operational and maintenance complexity, and potential technical issues. Therefore, when choosing to use this method, it is necessary to weigh and select based on specific needs and conditions.
